书虫入门级读物注释：[1]《威廉.退尔》

“书虫•牛津英汉双语读物”是外语教学与研究出版社和牛津大学出版社联合奉献给中国英语学习者（从小学高年级至大学）的一套分级阅读书系；“书虫”美绘光盘版纯彩色印刷，配有英美专业朗读者朗读的CD光盘。笔者的孩子（六年级）正在读入门级读物，笔者根据孩子的英语水平，在孩子泛读之后要求孩子精读，在书上所给注释之外给孩子做了额外的系列注释。本篇是《威廉.退尔》(内含6个小故事）的注释。

William Tell

1.Baron Gessler makes everyone bow to his hat.(P2)

make sb do sth 使某人做某事

make v. 使某人怎样 make 作此用法后面一定要接动词原形

2.They are all afaid of him.(P2)

But Tell is not afaid.(P4)

Don't be afaid. (P6)

They are not afaid of him any more.(P8)

afaid adj. 害怕的

be afaid 害怕

be afraid of sb 害怕某人

be afraid of sth 害怕某物

be afraid of doing sth 害怕做某事

not … any more 不再

past prep. 经过

walk past = pass pass v.经过

walk past the Baron's hat without bowing

without prep. 注意介词（prep.)后面的动词要加-ing

4. Shoot through this apple.(P4)

…it goes through the apple and into the tree!(P6)

through prep. (从内部）穿过

5. Tell takes two arrows out, and gets ready to shoot.(P6)

get ready to do sth 准备做某事

6. He is good with boats.(P8)

be good with 灵巧的，与……相处得好

Tom Blood

1. The King steals everything from me(P18)

So I must steal something from him.(P18)

The parson's stealing the jewels.(P20)

steal (sth) from sb(sth) 从某人或某处偷了（某物）

2. In the jewel room one night, Tom hits Talbot on the head.(P18)

hit sb on the head 猛击某人的头部

注：这两个词的用法，与中文习惯不同，中文是偷某人的东西，猛击某人的头，但是英文用对应的介词表示，注意不要受中文干扰。

stop doing 停止当前在做的事情

2. He shouts at the stone.(P26)

shout at … 对……大叫

King Matthias and the Good Shepherd

say sth with a smile 微笑着说

2. I hear you have a sheep with a fleece of gold.

fleece n. （一只羊一次剪下的）毛 （用作这种用法的时为可数名词）

be in love with sb 爱上某人

Johnny Appleseed

1. He looks out of the window and sees an apple tree!(P44)

out of 从内部到外部

look out of 向外看
